A Chocolate Life
Our first year. Our first Holiday season. 11/23/16
We're enjoying some last family time and pre-Thanksgiving before getting into the thick of our December rush. Starting next week we start producing for our cart, a couple holiday events, and the pre-orders we have received so far.
Last month we got to vend at two new events, dive into networking, and really get our first official labeling done so we can start appearing in retail outlets:
The SF Vintner's Market (usually at Fort Mason but this time at the Metreon in SF) was another pay-once for unlimited wine tastings event and was fun people watching to be on the vendor side.
Our first San Francisco Fall Holiday Chocolate Salon was this past weekend. A great event at the Kabuki Hotel with 30 chocolate vendors, a chocolate themed movie and more. Bittersweetly(?) I had to miss it due to a child under the weather. But Jen and Heather represented wonderfully and may have even discovered a new single-origin chocolate supplier worthy of adding to our team! (Think "orange chocolate" without any additives...)
Next comes the Holiday rush. Some parties, our first Mall retail experience(!), and hopefully lots of gifting and sharing chocolate. Hopefully we'll still be walking at the end, but maybe just barely.
It's been a fun chocolate journey and we appreciate each and every one of you who has been a part of it. We hope you enjoy your holiday season (and hopefully some holiday chocolate!).
We can't wait to see what chocolate mayhem we can cause next year!
A little about ourselves
Our first of hopefully many blog-style posts! 8/1/16
We are Chris and Jen. Owner/chocolatiers of Rainy Day Chocolate. Both Sonoma County locals, with diverse employment backgrounds, a shared foodie obsession, and a desire for a better world: we created Rainy Day Chocolate to bring real chocolate flavor to our Bay Area community and more.
Proudly part of the American Chocolate Revolution: It is our goal to awaken people to the true flavors available from Single-Origin Chocolate.
Large chocolate manufacturers add all sorts of ingredients as filler and to help create a uniform product. We have discovered that small batch, organic chocolate made from the finest cacao beans available, offer an experience for your tastebuds unparalled by large scale manufactured chocolate.
We seek to bring our customers the decadence of truffles, with the amazingness of single origin flavor. From creamy insides, surrounded by solid chocolate that really snaps when you bite it, our truffles take your taste buds for a ride reminiscent of fine wine tasting.
Right now our focus is truffles: our original handmade, hand-dipped truffles combining classic and unique recipes for the ultimate in chocolate decadence. New flavors sprouting up regularly! Enjoy our Belgian or one of many single-origin chocolates from around the world.
Our Single-origin Truffle Bites; committed to bringing amazing flavor to the consumer while ensuring the farmers access to better futures for themselves and their families. Fair trade, Direct trade, Transparent trade or imported ourselves! Favorites include: Guatemala, Madagascar, and Belize so far.
Fun in the lab working with Organic Cacao Nibs at the moment. Dry rubs, smoothies, chocolate-dipped cacao nib cookies... Coming Soon!
Who knows what the future may hold... Caramels, bark, hot chocolate... Our own Rainy Day Chocolate Blend... Stay tuned!
We seek to bring fair trade, single origin chocolate to Sonoma County and beyond. Join our Truffle Club now and be among the first to try our newest recipes before the public!
